This Week's Book Blogger Hop Question:
Do you own more than one copy of a book? (submitted by Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer)
My Answer:I am not guilty of this "bookish sin". Unfortunately, I do not have enough space for books and there is no point to keep a couple of copies of the same book, I just choose the prettiest edition and leave it on the shelves. The only exceptions are Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen and Tales of Belkin by Alexander Pushkin, which I have in English and Czech, and Russian and German languages respectively for language learning purposes.

My Book Beginnings:
‘Christmas won’t be Christmas without any presents,’ grumbled Jo, lying on the rug.
‘It’s so dreadful to be poor!’ sighed Meg, looking down at her old dress.

Little Women by Louisa May Alcott |
There are many Beths in the world, shy and quiet, sitting in corners till needed, and living for others so cheerfully that no one sees the sacrifices till the little cricket on the hearth stops chirping, and the sweet, sunshiny presence vanishes, leaving silence and shadow behind.Outline: I must confess that the writing does not do anything to me. The 56 extract is a bit sad and knowing the story of Beth, I can see that the author started to prepare us to the sad events straight from the beginning of the book.
I loved this book as a pre-teen! Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteI totally get it. I don't have enough stpace to haul several editions of the same book, but I still do. Oops. Onlyif I love the book though. Have a good weekend!

Choosing the prettiest version is what I try to do too!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read Little Women, but I've heard nothing but praise for it.
ReplyDeleteHi Julie, I don’t own more than one copy of any book per se but I do own different formats of the same book. For example, I’ve got the paperback versions of Holly Bell’s Amanda Cadabra Mysteries as well as the Kindle versions. I own the Kindle version of Teresa Gabelman's The Protectors series and also the Audible versions so that I can access my favourite reads wherever I am.
ReplyDeleteHaving said that, I'm sure the collector in me would also want a favourite book in multiple paperbacks if they changed the cover. ;-) But I like the idea of buying a favourite book in an additional language to help learn that language! Genius!
I hope you have a great weekend. Here's my BBH Post

I have a few extra copies of books but not as many as I used to have. Space is definitely an issue!
ReplyDeleteI own more than one copy of some books... Usually they're different formats. Audio + ebook or paperback. Paperback + kindle that sort of thing.
ReplyDeleteI hadn't realized having more than one copy was a "bookish sin". That's a new one to me! Haha. I hope you enjoy Little Women more as you go. It's not a book I have read, and can't say I have felt the urge to. You never know though. Maybe someday. Have a great week!
