Sunday Post #40, Spring or not Spring

The Sunday Post is hosted by The Caffeinated Book Reviewer.  It’s a chance to share news, a post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things received, and share news about what is coming up on the blog for the week ahead. To get in on the Sunday fun, see the rules here: Sunday Post Meme.

Outside the Blog
The good news is that TV series Shetland (season 5) will be completed within a month and Happy! (season 2) will start at the end of the month. This Saturday I finished the last episode of 8 season of Death in Paradise and I hope there is not going to be a continuation. It started to be a bit tiresome. Though I enjoyed the views and sunny weather on the screen while it is snowing outside, but they change the cast again and I do not have a heart for newcomers)).
I have started Middle Grade March and reading mostly children's book. After the one I have read on Friday I decided not to review them, as I do not know how. Mostly, I do not like the simplicity of the language and the plot is always predictable (which is normal), and if I am going to go into details apart from "like" or "dislike" I am not sure I can judge it not as an adult, which is not fair.

  1. I tried getting into Death in Paradise, but when they changed the cast in the second season, I just couldn't get into it. Hope you have a great week!

    1. Yes the first change was kind of drastic. I could not get into the main character for some time.

  2. It's hard reviewing kids books. I try and look at them through the lens of my kiddo and then just stick to facts. Did it appeal to you as an adult? Can you see why a child would enjoy it? Problematic themes? Language too simple/advanced for intended audience?

    1. The problem is that when I was a child I did not read much horror or fantasy, mostly adventures, so now I cannot even imagine my reaction to it.

  3. You have a lot of reviews scheduled this week and I am awed at your reading speed. Have a great week ahead.

  4. Ooh Shetland! I think I've only watched through series 3? So I have some catching up to do when netflix gets the new one.

I'm not always a fan either when a show's cast changes.

  5. Reviewing kids’ books as an adult is always a challenge. Some kids’ books are really good, though. Have a great week!

  7. You're keeping your blog very busy. I can't fit in tv these days. I just have too many things I want to read. I don't think I could review kids books other than ones I read and loved. Hope this week is going well. Anne - Books of My Heart
