Sunday Post #39, Life Slump

The Sunday Post is hosted by The Caffeinated Book Reviewer.  It’s a chance to share news, a post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things received, and share news about what is coming up on the blog for the week ahead. To get in on the Sunday fun, see the rules here: Sunday Post Meme.

Outside the Blog
It seems I am falling into "life slump". Every day seems like a previous one: same routine, same stuff, same weather, I feel tired and irritable. Maybe it is some kind of the slowness before the spring hits, as everything around seems as well in some sleepy anticipation.
This week I hardly read, I listen to some part of Great Alone and love the story, but my listening opportunities are limited, so it is going on slowly.
I found some free time for a movie and chose Widows (2018) and did not like it. This movie dragged so much, unnecessary scenes, badly written dialogue, so many story lines, that are left undeveloped and thus essentially irrelevant. The only positive point was the acting - it was really good. I regret I spent my time on this movie.

Caraval by Stephanie Garber
I am not sure why I grabbed it, as I have read many negative review on it, but it was a good deal and I'd better check for myself.

  1. Aww sorry to hear Widows was disappointing. I'm glad to hear Norse Mythology was good though- nice review by the way- I've been kinda interested in it but Gaiman's stuff doesn't usually appeal to me, so it's good to know that it worked for you.

I kinda want to get around to Caraval too one of thse days. Hope it's good!

  2. I've heard so many mixed things about Caraval that I figure the only thing to do is to read it for yourself. Getting it on a good deal just makes things that little bit better, imo. :)

  4. I'm sorry to hear about your life slump. I feel that way a bit too and I think it's just because I'm so ready for spring so that I can get outside and actually enjoy the weather.

I'll be curious to see what you think of Caraval. My reaction to the first book was a little mixed but positive overall, but then I absolutely loved the second book in the series.

  5. Sorry to hear about your life slump. I hope you're able to break out of it soon. I've found what helps me is to find a new project to focus on. Though it's hard to figure out just what that project can be! Caraval is one I want to read too despite the negative reviews. It has so much possibility! Hope you're having a better week!

  6. I think the life slump is all over because so many have been sick, the weather has been crappy and it still gets dark too early. Next week will be even colder here but after that is daylight savings time and hopefully it will warm up. I'm ready for more hours of light even if it stays cold. Anne - Books of My Heart
